SUPPORT LIVE LATIN AND JAZZ MUSIC
New York city was regarded as the music capital of the world. Since the unfortunate events of 9/11 many music venues were forced to closed. Real estate prices and city taxes contributed to many more venues closing down. Today with the resurgence of live music it is up to the public to support and maintain the few live music venues that remain in business. Without the support of the public these venues will eventually disappear. For live music to continue to survive, the public must make an honest effort to maintain the businesses that feature live music. The public can demand that the radio stations (media) give air-play to the local bands & musicians which in turn will perform at the music venues. Not only does the public have to do their part , but also the musicians need to take responsility. They should make the music acsessable to the public.Musicians should take advantage of the opportunity to perform at any venue which offers live music regardless of the budget which the venues have to work with. The media has to cooperate and give local groups there fair share of airplay. Without airplay the public is unaware of the musical groups. It will take a cooperative effort from all sides: musicians, radio stations, club owners and the listening and dancing public. If these groups can work together everybody wins. The club owners will have patrons, the musicans & bands will have employment, the radio stations will have more listeners and the public will have live music. Everyone wins. Please continue to support live Latin and Jazz music.
